Kosmo, The Smart E-Cig

Our friends at Kosmo are doing an Indiegogo! Ylann and the Kosmo team have prototyped a smart and beautiful e-cig which helps you control how much you're smoking via your smartphone. Check out the video below to learn more:

The app includes:

Social mechanics so you can check on your friends (and they can check on you)
A personalized coaching program to help you quit
"Find-It" feature to locate a misplaced e-cig

The e-cig also has a patented LED-Smartlight which tracks how much you've smoked today (red means you should probably stop.)

The Kosmo team uses Octopart to get quotes for BOMs in seconds. Within the e-cig, there's an advanced electronic system that uses Bluetooth low energy to communicate with smartphones. The design includes Texas Instrument's CC2541 chipset for Bluetooth capabilities and a 4 layer PCB. The big challenge was designing everything to fit -- the PCB is just 12x22mm.

Kosmo is looking to >raise EUR30,000 with anticipation of a September ship date.
