For the second installment of Octopart Trends we'll look at a few new dev kits and lab equipment on Octopart which are garnering a lot of attention. We analyzed pageviews to find the top 1000 parts over the last three months and selected the newest ones to take a closer look at.
It's no surprise that the Raspberry Pi is one of the most sought after new development platforms (or that it still has a long lead time in ordering). Another, perhaps lesser known, development kit which has been trending recently is the STMicroelectronics STM32F0DISCOVERY. This barebones evaluation board features the ARM based STM32F051 MCU, built on the Cortex-M0 architecture. Notably, this is currently the lowest cost ARM based development board we are tracking.
The NB5Q-TW00B is a new programmable terminal offering from Omron. While Omron isn't known for its displays, they are a crucial component in a suite of Omron products, including programmable logic controllers, designed to assist in automation control of production lines. The NB5Q series of terminals promises an easy integration with these products at a lower cost than the NS series of terminals.
As a company composed of former lab monkeys, we're always excited to see new oscilloscopes and other benchtop equipments in our database. We are seeing a lot of activity on Agilent's new DSO1052B. This is Agilent's attempt at packaging some of the same quality features you'd expect in a quality scope at a lower cost and at a portable size.
