Altium 365 GovCloud - Outbound Traffic Settings

Created: December 2, 2025

Summary:

As Altium 365 GovCloud becomes more commonly used, there are some features that are inherently disabled within an Altium 365 GovCloud Workspace for security purposes. These include features such as sharing projects outside of the workspace with design collaborators.

This video discusses the risks associated with enabling these features to export data outside of the workspace controlled environment, which should only be completed according to compliance and regulation controls for this data.  The video then concludes with a demonstration of how to enable sharing outside of the Altium 365 GovCloud Workspace, under these considerations.

As Altium 365 GovCloud is becoming more commonly available and commonly used, there are some features of Altium 365 that are inherently disabled within an Altium 365 GovCloud Workspace for security purposes. By default, some of the features that normally work on Altium 365 Workspace, such as sharing projects outside of your workspace with design collaborators such as contractors, is turned off by default.

00:00:29:25 - 00:00:50:15
So we'll take a look at how you could actually enable these features within Altium 365 GovCloud. Now, I do need to make a note that these capabilities actually do allow for sharing data outside of your workspace, which means it will now be available to be exported outside of your controlled environment. There are very heavy warnings that come with this.

00:00:50:18 - 00:01:13:12
So please make sure you're doing so accordingly, and managing your data properly. However, if you do need to share data outside of your workspace, some of the default settings are already enabled, but most are turned off by default. As you can see here, when we go to Admin, Settings, and then under Access Control, this Altium 365 GovCloud Workspace.

00:01:13:15 - 00:01:37:22
There's an additional section under Access Control called Outbound Traffic, and then also, please note, the big red lettering is warning you that anything that you're sharing outside of this is now going to be shared outside of the workspace, exposing data to people who are not explicitly, necessarily, within your workspace. So if you're going to do so, be sure to make sure you're still following compliance and regulation controls.

00:01:37:24 - 00:02:01:09
Now by default supply chain data acquisition is turned on. This is for queries such as Octopart. We are looking for parts to add to your design also through different tools within Altium Designer such as Manufacturer Part Search or BOM View. There are three other areas that you could enable to allow for data to be shared outside of your workspace, within a GovCloud Environment.

00:02:01:11 - 00:02:24:10
The first is your external project share and manufacturer packages. These kind of speak for themselves, but sharing projects outside of your Altium 365 GovCloud Workspaces is not on by default. So you cannot share these projects with anybody who is not a member of your existing workspace. If you'd like to do so, you'd like to share this data with a user outside of your workspace,

00:02:24:12 - 00:02:46:25
but you do not want to invite them into your workspace, you need to enable this option. However, the best recommended path is if you are able to add them as a workspace member so that you do not have to enable this option. Also, we do support PLM Integration within Altium 365 GovCloud Workspaces, so you can turn on the option to export data to your PLM tools.

00:02:46:27 - 00:03:09:27
Then finally, the same is true for Jira integration. As we have Jira integration within Altium 365, we do support that within Altium 365 GovCloud as well. These are the current options that you have. As more tools are becoming available, you may see more options become available in this list as well. I hope this helps answer any questions and allows you to continue to work,

00:03:09:29 - 00:03:19:16
but please make sure that you are doing so by managing this data in a requirements and compliance matter. Thank you very much. If you have any questions, please reach out.
