A Tour of the Routing and Tuning Capabilities of Altium Designer

Created: November 11, 2020

This on-demand webinar looks at how to tackle the most challenging high-speed and high-density design routing tasks by using the best in class routing engine with any angle support. Any angle routing allows for more traces to be escape-routed per layer, possibly reducing the number of layers, thus reducing bare board fabrication costs. A brand new length tuning engine creates tunings with smart and effective fill patterns, improved controls, and on the fly updates, all powered by a physics-based field solver for accurate propagation delay matching.

We will also explore the innovative design method of Printed Electronics. As part of this, we will show how Altium Designer allows for the automatic set up of dielectric areas between two layers when they overlap. This avoids introducing short circuits into the project. In addition, we will take a look at some new capabilities coming to Altium Designer in 2021.

Here are some key points covered in the session:

  • Routing

  • Length Tuning

  • Push and Shove

  • Printed Electronics
