Introducing KiCad models for download

Octopart offers you the opportunity to download CAD models for the industry's most popular PCB design tools, including Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle, Upverter and, now, KiCad.

KiCad is Octopart’s number one requested community since introducing CAD models to our product. For those unfamiliar with KiCAD, it is a popular, free, and open-source EDA suite originally built by Jean-Pierre Charras, then further developed with contributions from CERN.

Octopart prides itself on not sacrificing quality for quantity. We have a very rigorous system in place for how to make models and how to make them well. We have a growing database of over 850,000 components with CAD models available for download and each one has been verified for accuracy. Our new KiCad models were personally reviewed and approved by the developers team at KiCad.

Octopart continues to expand our CAD database, increasing access to part models for designers of all levels. Our partnership with KiCad helps to make this possible by providing free, open source CAD models, and more options for our users.

Octopart has been providing CAD model downloads for Altium Designer, OrCAD symbols, Eagle, and Upverter since 2018. We strive to democratize data and information so that electrical engineers of all backgrounds can access the information that they need, how and when they need it. Octopart also offers CAD construction services for companies in need of custom libraries.

Where can you find CAD models on Octopart?

Looking for CAD models for your part number? Look up your MPN in the search bar and then you can easily filter by parts that have CAD models with the symbol, footprint, and 3D model. Once you apply that filter, choose your part, and when you land on the PDP you can scroll down or click “CAD models” at the top to check out all of the format options. From here it’s just an easy click to download and you’re on your way.

Check out our KiCad models available for download on over 850,000 components. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about any format of CAD model, we want to hear from you. Contact us by email with your thoughts.
