How to Start a Design Review

Created: May 5, 2025
Updated: September 2, 2025

Summary:

This video demonstrates the design review process.  To begin, select the design review link or navigate to the radial dots in the upper right corner.  Type in a description for the review, and notice the time stamp, date, and review author/initiator.

A customer checklist can also be added through the admin settings, or a template can be chosen.  Items can then be removed from the checklist by selecting the trash icon, and the reviewer’s email addresses are added.  Then the review is submitted, and the checklist can be seen in the design snapshot and items can be enabled or disabled as desired.  Feedback on the review can also be included, and users can approve or reject it as well.

Changes or updates to the review stay in the design and are highlighted in red for rejected reviews.  Rejected reviews are shown only via filtering and can be reopened, if desired, to track approver changes.

In this video, I'm going to show you how you can start a design review. You can do it from the design review link or in the upper right corner you'll see radial dots that you can choose from the dropdown list as well.

00:00:17:11 - 00:00:34:14
You can see it has the name of the design review with the project name listed, and you can also type in a description. So anyone that's going to be reviewing would know what the review is for.

00:00:35:00 - 00:01:05:02
Also you'll see it was created, time stamp and a date, and the author or initiator. You can also add a checklist. This can be a custom checklist that you can add through the admin settings. Or you can choose from one of the templates. Here you can see the list of items that will be part of the design review down below.

00:01:05:03 - 00:01:15:04
You can also remove any one of these using the little icon for the trash. To set up who's going to be the reviewers you can just select the names.

00:01:15:05 - 00:01:28:12
Going to be their email address and then submit a review.

00:01:28:14 - 00:01:42:07
At this point, now you're in the design snapshot and you can see the checklist available when I open up the schematic document.

00:01:42:08 - 00:01:49:03
You can enable yes, no, not applicable

00:01:49:04 - 00:01:57:06
For each one of the items that are part of the checklist.

00:01:57:07 - 00:02:24:07
I can also submit review feedback. So in the event that I either want to approve or reject I could do it from there. You'll notice any time that I set up a comment or a task, it has the design review associated with it. By clicking on the blue link there, it will open up the design review for each one of those tasks that have been submitted.

00:02:24:08 - 00:02:33:06
You can see I didn't do it, also, from the three radial dots.

00:02:33:07 - 00:02:47:04
So now I'm back in the design review. You can see the items that have been selected, and you can see the design snapshot as well on the left side.

00:02:47:05 - 00:03:17:07
It will populate with each of those items, and now if I wanted to submit it as my official, I can go ahead and reject it or approve it. I'm going to reject this one because there are open tasks that have not been resolved and then I can just click the submit button.

00:03:17:08 - 00:03:27:05
This will immediately be indicated in red, saying the name of the reviewer and that it was rejected.

00:03:27:06 - 00:03:53:11
This will stay in the design at any given time, and you can see it's going to be highlighted there in red, letting me know it has been rejected. If I were to go in and any of those rejected ones, the status is going to show up above. In this case, it's been rejected.

00:03:53:13 - 00:04:16:08
If I go back into the design reviews, notice they aren't listed there, but there has been one that's rejected. So I can go ahead and find that through the filtering. If I select the reject and then it comes back available. So I can see all the details about that review and open it.

00:04:16:10 - 00:04:35:04
Again it shows all the items that were actually approved or disapproved. And then it will give me the time stamp, the date as well. So these are always going to be a way that you can track who has approved or rejected any of the items in the checklist.
