Introducing Chris Sepulveda

As Octopart and our Nexar Business Unit grow, we continue to expand our organization. We are extremely pleased to announce and welcome Chris Sepulveda as Business Development Manager for DaaP. Chris will be a driving force behind capturing market share for DaaP offerings across the electronic component ecosystem.

Chris has over 8 years of experience in the electronic component distribution space. His previous experience as a Global Account Manager saw him driving revenue through prospecting new customers, managing existing customer relationships, and growing business within Tier 1 OEM and EMS customers globally. Let’s meet Chris now!

What brought you to Octopart and Nexar?

I felt particularly drawn to Octopart and Nexar because I've been a long-time user and have always known that they have the best-in-class solution. By offering innovative data solutions, I see the Nexar ecosystem reshaping the traditional manufacturing and supply chain models globally. Every so often an opportunity comes along that is something much, much bigger than just a new opportunity. This was a chance to be a part of something truly special and an opportunity that I am ecstatic to be a part of.

What is DaaP?

Data-as-a-Platform (DaaP) is a business model in which a company collects, stores, and manages a large volume of data and then offers it to external partners and third-party systems. The idea of DaaP is unique because it positions data—rather than applications or physical hardware—as a commodity.

How would you describe your new role as the Business Development Manager for DaaP?

My new role as the Business Development Manager is to be the driving force behind capturing market share for the DaaP offerings across the electronic component ecosystem. I act as the voice of the customer to communicate their insights and feedback to help improve our product offerings. This is accomplished by working closely with our Customer Satisfaction Team, Marketing, Product, Design, Engineering, and Data Science teams to turn these insights into features that benefit our growing DaaP user base.

What do you hope to bring to Nexar?

Coming from the electronic component distribution space, I hope to bring creative solutions and unique insight into the manufacturing and electronic component supply chain. While working in my previous role, I specialized in selling to Tier 1 OEM’s and EMS customers globally. Having the ability to identify the correct decision-makers and offer a creative value proposition has always been something I have excelled at. By combining my technical skills with my creative sales approach, I hope to bring innovative solutions to the Nexar team.

How important do you see data analytics being in the future of business?

I see the future of data analytics in business as being extremely important because it helps businesses optimize their performances. Implementing it into their business model means companies can help reduce costs by identifying more efficient ways of doing business. A company can also use data analytics to make better business decisions and help analyze customer trends and satisfaction, which can lead to new products and services.

What changes do you foresee happening in the industry?

I foresee the integration of digital technology into all areas of the industry, fundamentally changing how companies operate and deliver value to their customers. The adoption of new technology will lead to a lower total cost of ownership, increased business agility, and better customer experiences. While margins prove critical for companies to remain viable, conquering the concept of pricing will not be enough. To compete in the often unpredictable and competitive market, companies must explore progressive ways to drive higher volumes and prices with digital technology at the forefront.

What initially drew you to the tech sector?

Having the ability to work in technology embodies a world of unlimited possibilities. A career in technology means working in the fastest-growing, fastest-changing, and possibly most demanding career sector. It rewards innovation and creativity but demands accuracy and massive attention to detail.

What advice would you give to someone trying to move into the tech industry or starting out in the tech industry?

Believe in your abilities and start finding resources to learn the skills needed to be successful.

Last question. What are your hobbies and interests?

My favorite hobby is traveling because I love discovering new cities and places around the world. I also enjoy doing outdoor activities like camping, mountain biking, snowboarding, and surfing.
