Welcome to Octopart’s Specs View

Did you know that Octopart has more than one search results view? Specs View makes it easy to compare specifications across multiple parts. Prices View, the mostly commonly used view, allows you to see each part result with a list of distributors who sell that part. While both views have their benefits, Specs View provides more comprehensive results. See Figure 1.

Figure 1 – Navigate to Specs View by clicking on the Part Specifications tab

From here you can apply any number of the simplified parametric filters (shown at the top of the page), or the more granular filters in the table header. You can also sort values by clicking the ascending or descending options at the top of the page. This functionality works just as you would expect from your favorite distributors, but it gives you a complete view of the entire supply chain.

If you want to apply more granular filters to your search resutls, you can use the small circular button at the top of the table. This brings up a small dialog where you can select or exclude different options for filtering. You can also narrow down by ranges in in the case of numeric values, such as voltage or frequency.

We know that when you’re doing research for a project you might have an overwhelming number of tabs and windows open on your computer. Octopart tidies up this mess by consolidating the information you need into a single table. You can easily filter and evaluate multiple parts without having to bounce between multiple pages. You can view your part comparison searches at a glance, all in one convenient place.

What is Lead Time on Octopart and where can you find it?

We want to help you navigate the risk that comes with selecting components. During the early design stage, you may select a component that you later find out won’t be available in the time frame you need it. This can result in a very expensive modification later down the road.

Specs View includes the Lead Time feature, which is one of many features that support comprehensive and detailed component searches.  Lead Time can refer to several different timeframes. In the case of Octopart, we now source Factory Lead Time from our trusted distributors and manufacturers so that you know how long it will take for a part to get from manufacturer to distributor.

When Octopart is unable to source concise Factory Lead Time data directly from a trusted source, we will not provide these figures. We want to make sure that all information is accurate and reliable, and we are continually working to make this information as complete as possible

You can find Factory Lead Time on Specs View for more than 21 million unique parts. Wherever Factory Lead Time is displayed, you see the number of weeks of lead time, and you can see the precise number of days by hovering your mouse over the part’s Factory Lead Time data. See Figure 2.

Alongside this important information is the supply chain and pricing data you have come to expect from Octopart. The Market Availability column summarizes in-stock inventory from authorized distributors, while the Lifecycle Status column indicates the most up-to-date lifecycle information available for each component in Octopart's database. These factors are also sortable and filterable so that you can prioritize the best parts and sellers that will meet your needs.

We continue to prioritize critical data to help you understand part risk. You may recall a while back we implemented Lifestyle Status. The implementation of Factory Lead Time data continues our work to help you close the part risk gap. While Factory Lead Time provides you with the amount of time it takes for the distributor to procure the product, Lifecycle Status informs you if the life of the component is active, not recommended, end of life, or inactive. Octopart is always working on additional aspects of part risk visibility and will continue to add valuable new features on an ongoing basis.

Try out Specs View and Factory Lead Time for yourself on Octopart. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about either feature, we want to hear from you. Contact us by email with your thoughts.
