This tutorial guides users in how to centralize, connect, and manage requirements within the Altium Requirements Portal, showing how to import existing data, link it directly to design projects, and maintain a single, version-controlled source of truth. It highlights how integrated workflows improve traceability, streamline verification, and provide real-time visibility into project progress, while also simplifying compliance reporting. Read on to see how these tutorials can help you reduce errors, stay aligned, and bring greater clarity and confidence to your design process.
This article introduces mechanical engineers to a connected workflow between ECAD and MCAD, showing how to replace static file exchanges with a live, version-controlled design link that keeps PCB and enclosure data aligned. It walks through syncing constraints, enabling detailed thermal analysis, managing revisions, and resolving interferences across complex and multi-board systems, all while maintaining traceability and accuracy throughout the process. Read on to see how these guided tutorials can help you streamline collaboration, reduce errors, and confidently design alongside your electrical counterparts.
This video demonstrates two processes to move a project from one workspace into another. The first method begins in Altium Designer by opening a project, unlinking the git folder, turning off the synchronization, and making it available online. However, this method does not include the project history. The second method also begins in Altium Designer, within the workspace. In this method, the user manually unlinks the project in notepad by removing the managed folder. Then, a fake version control system is created using the Tortoise Git Tool. The changes are pushed to the local version control and the project is made available online and migrated to the workspace version control.
ECAD software keeps designers honest by enforcing PCB design rules and constraints on the design and layout tools. It is
Understand why registration tolerance is now a design constraint in Ultra HDI PCB layouts, and how ignoring it risks yield, reliability, and manufacturability.
Sometimes, the best tool for PCB DFM checks is your PCB design software. Leverage your DRC engine to ensure compliance with DFM constraints.
