Folder Permissions

Created: November 19, 2025

Summary:

This video demonstrates how to set sharing permissions for folders in the Explorer Panel.  To do so, expand the components folder, and select a folder within it.  Next, right click and select properties.  In the properties dialog box, select the share link, and alter the permissions for users via the drop down option.  To add a role, type it in.

Any permissions set for a folder will also apply to the children's folders within that top folder.  Finally, close the dialog boxes by selecting okay twice to set the permissions for a component.

In this video, I will show you how to set sharing permissions for folders in the Explorer Panel. You will notice all the folders. If I expand the components folder, I will select the capacitors folder. When I right click, you'll see properties at the bottom of the list, and when I select that, the edit folder Properties Dialog will appear in the lower left corner.

00:00:36:14 - 00:01:11:00
You'll notice the share link. I will select that, and here it's showing me the specific users and roles that it's already been given. Permissions: the administrator can edit and anyone in the workspace can edit. I can change those by using the dropdown either to view or remove permissions for any individual user or role. I'll keep it set at can edit in order to add new users.

00:01:11:01 - 00:01:20:21
You can select add either user role or anyone.

00:01:20:23 - 00:01:37:01
If I want to go ahead and add a role, I can type in. If the role is already created, you'll see it in the list and you can select it.

00:01:37:04 - 00:02:08:28
You also can see who can modify permissions. Right now it's the owner, but it can be a collaborator as well. And then any permissions that I set for this specific folder, it will inherit those in the children folders as well. Using this option that is checked, once I click okay and click okay again, those permissions now are set for that particular folder.
